Nigel Costley (Secretary of the South West Region Trades Union Council) has agreed to speak at the  Low Pay – No Way launch meeting. The launch will be followed by a lobby of the Dorset Council meeting on 18 February, when our speakers will seek urgent action on WeyPAW’s proposals which have been have been under consideration by DC’s Economic Development Executive Advisory Panel since September last year.
We have extended the Low Pay – No Way! campaign to include improved public transport with lower fares, particularly to ensure that people living in rural areas can travel to work. We will be launching this aspect of the campaign with a petition at a street stall in Dorchester on 25 January.

PLUS: Lobby Dorset Council for action on poverty wages and rights at work: Tuesday 18 February, 6pm, County Hall, Dorchester.
POOLE’s 24-HOUR A&E TO CLOSE: People in South and East Dorset face more problems – Health Secretary Matt Hancock says Poole A&E will close. Following the General Election he has endorsed plans to transport emergency patients to Bournemouth – on the other side of one of the UK’s most congested conurbations.
There’s a new petition against congestion and health risks associated with tens of thousands of new vehicle journeys to Royal Bournemouth Hospital. See: https://tinyurl.com/uqgeno9
