21st August Monday 7.30pm: Positive Money Bournemouth, Meet Transition Town
Bournemouth group at the Cricketers Arms Bournemouth. Interesting to hear about
their work: Slades Farm, Repair Cafe etc
22nd August 7pm Greenhouse Hotel Bournemouth: Stop the War Bournemouth had a
panel discussion around British foreign policy. Rep from StWC, Green Party and
Humanists on the panel. Well attended, lively debate. The group are now looking for
ideas for the next event/action. You can find them on social media.
4-11 Sept DSEI arms trade fare East London. Campaign Against the Arms Trade did
a week of events and actions.

The People’s Assembly are now building for a National Demo at the Tory Party
conference Manchester to be held Sunday 1st October. Details on the National PA
website and social media. There will also be events in Manchester between 30th Sept-
16th September Bristol Book Fair
18th Sept 7.30pm Cricketers Wyndeham Road Bournemouth Positive Money showing
film ‘Inside Job’ with discussion after.
20th September Weds 9.30am Dorford Centre Bridport Road, Dorchester. Demo
called by Health Campaigns Together outside the Dorset CCG meeting when the
decision will be announced of the outcome of the CSR for Dorset hospital services.
14th October We Shall Overcome Bridport
14th October: sees the start of the Arts By the Sea Festival Bournemouth for a week.
BNSS will be open the first weekend. There are a few events focusing on damaging
aspects of plastic waste.
19th October Elstead Hotel Bournemouth 7.30pm. We are co-hosting this event with
Positive Money Bournemouth. Panel presentation and discussion on the merits of
annual Land Value Tax, lead by Heather and Dave Wetzel, Vice Chair and President
of the Labour Land Campaign (non political party). They will propose a fundamental
shift of taxes from earned incomes and onto the unearned incomes that the owners of
land and other natural resources enjoy. Further details on social media.
28th October London Book Fair.
th November. 800th Anniversary of the Forest Charter, issued to restore the rights of
access to the commons. The Woodland Trust will be launching a modern day Tree
Charter to reinforce the importance of green spaces for use by the general public. We
would like to plant a tree in a public place (hoping for Shelley Park) with
accompanying plaque to mark the occasion. (Sheila to write to the council)
Ongoing Anti Fracking protest at Preston New Road Lancashire.

– #DorsetHour is available to promote events on twitter between 7.30-8.30pm on a
Monday evening. They have 17,000 followers so useful platform.
