A Centenary for Socialism

Centenary Banner

The Communist Party has recently been celebrating its victories and achievements over the 100 years since its founding in Britain – a truly momentous occasion.

The challenges of the Covid-19 crisis haven’t spoiled the celebrations. Discussions, celebrations and seminars were moved online, culminating in a jam-packed centenary gala on Saturday 01 August!

Many of the centenary events, including an 8 part series “Pandemonium” were live streamed directly to our Facebook page, and can be watched back now here.

In addition, addresses from our General Secretary, Rob Griffiths and our Chair, Liz Payne, were posted to YouTube alongside a fantastic half-hour documentary film on the history of our Party. To view these, and get the latest videos when they are uploaded please subscribe here.

Two new books were also launched, and are now available to order directly from our online shop:

Red Lives (£9.99) – Read ‘Red Lives’ the amazing and true story of communism in Britain, through the life stories, of ordinary rank and file members. 252 pages, full of photos and ready for despatch on 14 August.

Women & Class (£4.50) – A new and updated edition, for the first time in book form, written by Professor Mary Davis. This book is essential reading for activists in the women’s and trade union movements. 80 pages.
